Do I still need a Texas vehicle inspection in 2025?
Texas ended the annual safety inspection for most non-commercial vehicles on January 1, 2025. If your gas-powered vehicle is 2 to 24 years old and registered in an emissions county such as Harris or Montgomery, you still need an emissions test before renewing your registration. Commercial vehicles still need a safety inspection.
How much is the inspection?
The inspection is $18.50 pass or fail.
